An Open Consolidation Event of institutions in the field of Health Care provision in the area of Central Macedonia took place within the framework of the SMiLe project. The event took place at the Piraeus Bank Conference Center, Katouni 12-14, Ladadika, in Thessaloniki on Thursday, 29 November 2018 and focused on the following subjects:
- Primary Healthcare Accessibility
- Primary Healthcare Evaluation
- Organizational cooperation in the field of Primary Healthcare
The event had as an overall goal to develop a citizens-user oriented common management plan for the healthcare needs of the area.
Representatives of the Regional and Local Authorities, Patients’ and Persons with Disability Associations, Medical and Pharmaceutical Professional associations, and representatives of Secondary Healthcare Institutions took part in the event.
Within the framework of the event, the goals and actions of the SMiLe Project were presented. The SMiLe Project – Strengthening primary Medical care in IsoLated and deprived cross-border arEas – is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by national funds of the countries participating in INTERREG V-A “Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020″Cooperation Programme
The Manager of the 4th Health District of Macedonia Thrace Efstratios Plomaritis presented its role in providing Primary Health Care, as well as the central intervention axes for the improvement of the healthcare services.
Professor Alexis Benos, representing the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, presented the contribution of the project intervention in the overall planning for the Primary Health Care reform.
An open discussion on topics brought up by the participating institutions followed. The deliberation contributed to the identification of the challenges and the communication of the priorities of the participating institutions, as well as finding the common ground that would enable a cooperation towards better Primary Health Care Provision.
